Bodies as Infrastructures. The Venice Assembly

Performance, Workshop,

Venice,

2022

The project is based on the practice of the assembly as a social architecture grounded in bodies and their relations – with other bodies and with the body of the city. It consisted of a series of public conversations whose aim was to trigger paradigm shifts – or at least hesitations – in the understanding of the social, ecological and extractive infrastructures we inhabit, in order to critically question them.
Each group conversation was triggered by contributions by external mediators coming from different fields of research and practice. Out of this process, five statements were collectively chosen to be printed on fabric banners and displayed in the streets of the city, creating moments of temporary appropriation of public space.
The project was commissioned by Cà Foscari University, Venice within the framework of the Sustainable Art Prize 2021.
